Taxbot Email Sync Tutorial

Utilizing Taxbot's Email syncing technology allows emailed receipts to be scanned and imported into Taxbot to keep your records complete.

Taxbot has the ability to identify vendors and totals from emailed receipts and then categorizes the expense for you before presenting the expense to you for approval.

In order to take advantage of this feature it is necessary to have a Gmail account. Many people either use Gmail or their email may already be hosted on using Google's services. If this is the case, you are ready to sync.

If not, there is a simple workaround that will still allow you to participate with the email syncing technology.

  1. Create a free Gmail account by going to: http://www.gmail.com.
  2. Once created, log into your current email providers account
  3. (i.e. Outlook, Windows Live/Hotmail, Zoho, Yahoo!, iCloud, etc.)

Outlook

  1. Click on the gear/settings icon on the top right portion of the screen in the menu bar
  2. Then choose “Options”
  3. A menu will appear on the left side of the screen. Under the “Accounts heading” you'll see “Forwarding”
  4. Click on “Forwarding” and then choose the option that appears to “Start Forwarding”
  5. Input your new gmail address into the box and click “Save”

Yahoo!

  1. Hover over the gear/settings icon on the top right portion of the screen in the menu bar
  2. Then choose “Settings”
  3. Select Account tab and click on edit button of default yahoo account
  4. Now scroll to the bottom and check the “Forward: Your mail is forwarded to the specified address, so you can check it there.” option
  5. Input your new gmail address into the box and select “Forward Only” option from the drop-down menu of below tab
  6. Click “Save”
  7. Your Yahoo will then ask you to verify your Gmail address
  8. Once verified, your forwarding will be set up.

Zoho

  1. Click on the gear/settings icon on the top right portion of the screen in the menu bar
  2. Click “Email forwarding and POP/IMAP” on the menu on the left
  3. Under the heading “Email Forwarding” click “Add email address”
  4. Input your newly set up Gmail address into the “Email ID” box. Zoho will send you a confirmation code to your new Gmail accounts. Once you verify it, it will activate forwarding

iCloud

  1. In iCloud Mail, click the Action pop-up menu in the sidebar, then choose Preferences
  2. In the General pane, select “Forward my email to,” then type the forwarding address in the text field
  3. If you don’t want to store a copy of each forwarded message in iCloud, select “Delete messages after forwarding.” Keep in mind that storing copies of forwarded messages decreases your available iCloud storage space
  4. Click Done

Windows Live/Hotmail

  1. Select Options | More options...
  2. Follow the Email forwarding link under “Managing your account”
  3. Choose “Forward your mail to another email account” under Forwarding
  4. Enter the email address of the Gmail account under “Where do you want your messages to be sent?
  5. Optionally, check “Keep a copy of forwarded messages in your Windows Live Hotmail inbox.”
  6. If this option is not enabled, no trace of forwarded emails will remain at your Windows Live Hotmail account
  7. Click “Save”
