4 Ways to Fund Unexpected Car Repairs
You never know when an emergency is going to happen involving your car. It could be something simple like a dead battery or a major issue, such as the transmission or motor that needs to be replaced. Another emergency that could occur is a car accident that results in repairs that prevent you from driving your vehicle. No matter what issue you’re facing, if you don’t have money set aside, it can be difficult to pay for repairs. Fortunately, there are a few ways that you can fund emergency repairs so that you can drive your vehicle again.
Talk to your insurance company to find out if any repairs are covered if you’re in an accident. Most policies provide roadside assistance and towing to a mechanic or to your home until you’re able to figure out a way to pay for the repairs. A company like AutoSport Collision Repair can usually offer an estimate for how much it could be to get your car fixed so that you can turn this information into your insurance company. Another option would be to find out if your credit card company or bank offers any kind of coverage for car repairs.
The Best Offer
Although you probably want the repairs to be completed in a short time, you don’t want to take your vehicle to the first mechanic you see. Talk to a few different companies, letting each one know that you’re looking at offers that are available. If a company wants your business and you give them details about other offers, then you can usually get a lower rate. If you don’t have the money in your budget for any repair at all, then consider contacting local automotive schools in your area to see if someone can complete the work.
Loans and Credit Cards
An option that you have is to try to secure a loan. For minimal repairs, consider a payday advance loan so that you can quickly pay the money back. Another option would be to use a credit card. If you don’t have a card at the time the issue occurs, you can apply for one with a minimum limit that can then be used for the repair. After paying off the card, you can save it for other emergencies in the future.
Some mechanics will accept payments until you are able to pay off the repair bill. Explain your situation so that you can come up with a plan that works for you and the company. Make sure you abide by the agreement put in place to prevent additional fees.
