The Christmas season is upon us, and Black Friday is the best time to get gifts. You have probably already budgeted for the expenses that come at this time of the year. Do not panic if you have been slacking on preparing your Christmas budget because there are some easy ways to make some easy money.
Look for Extra Seasonal Work
There are tons of extra income opportunities during the holiday season. The holiday season is usually the busiest time of the year for retail stores. You can work in a variety of positions like gift wrapping, customer service, baking, and even playing the part of Santa Clause! These positions are usually flexible, so you can work them around your full-time job.
Think about how many packages and gifts need to be delivered at Christmas. You can go on company websites such as UPS and FedEx and look for delivery or seasonal help workers. There are also lots of opportunities from Lyft and Uber because lots of people will be traveling during the busy season. Lots of people need to get to the airport or grandma’s house and do not want to deal with driving themselves.
Sell Some Stuff
You probably have a good stockpile of things in your house that you don’t need. If the weather permits, host a garage sale to get rid of a bunch of things at once. You can finally get rid of those ugly holiday sweaters by going to your local consignment shop. Whether you sell your iPhone in Canada or old X Box in Pennsylvania, there’s plenty of opportunities to make some extra bucks with online shopping.
Sell Old Gift Cards
Many people get gift cards that are never used because they forget. It’s also possible that you have ones to restaurants or services that you dislike. Not everyone is a fan of Olive Garden or Home Depot. You can sell the cards through a trustworthy site like Raise and pay a small fee once the card sells. Regifting them is also an option if you’re crunched to find a present. You can sell them to friends or family at a discounted price.
Getting that last-minute gift takes some creativity and effort. Prepare in advance to pay for any other unexpected expenses during the holidays. Start small savings in the summer months, and your Christmas season will be much more enjoyable. But remember, when your gifts come from the heart, it does not matter how much you spend!
